Quote from Woz :...

And their set.

What the hell is it with guys who burn their clutches? All of you say it's the games fault and has no part what so ever in how you drive.

Come on! How can most VERY fast people drive without heating the clutch? Even us slowpokes can drive without burning it!

I can't burn the effing clutch in a race and I use the bleeding AUTOCLUTCH!

Own up! You just can't shift for shit.

Quote from Gekkibi :When you refuel your car, do you see how much in percentage you put gasoline? I bet you see that how many liters you have put.

Yes I see how many litres went in because it says so on the meter. But I also know there is 100% fuel in the tank after I filled it up.
But before I filled it up I only knew there was about 1/8 of a tank left. 63/8 is about 8 so when I went to fill it up I had about 8 litres (about 2 gallons) left.

You want the devs to add litres and both gallons to the mix when we can do the same with percentages. OK fine.

Then why not add radians for the angles? And mm for toe?

Diminishing returns.

Just like tuning an engine. In the beginning easy, quick and inexpensive modifications produce big results. The further you go the more complex, time consuming and expensive the modifications come while the visible gain gets smaller and smaller.

I couldn't care less for graphical stuff but as atledreier wrote: more damage. It would make races more interesting. Apart from the random electrical failures. That's a big no no.

Abuse your car => damage = Good!
Random damage = Bad!

Quote from Gekkibi :It is whole different in club-racing. Only way to know how much fuel is left in the tank is to guess (Of course there is fuel-meter, but it not precise enough. I know they would rather tank "10 liters" instead of "8.5 %".

So should the fuel load be made more inaccurate in LfS?

Which unit would LfS use for the fuel amount? Litres, imperial gallon, US gallon, barrel?

Persentage is universal, why not use it.

Now that he has another mouth to feed maybe LFS will be made more into a mainstream game to get more bread on the table.

Satisfying those ricers, drifters and cruisers might bring in more money.

I use autoclutch. Only time it overheats is when I try to fry it. Even if I redline the clutch, it only takes a few laps of carefull shifting to get it back to normal temperature.

Replays of your clutch malfunctions would be interesting viewing material. Or maybe you are too ashamed to show us how bad shifters you are?

Quote from LiveForBoobs :real garages dont have sensors to detect each cars' tank size

But real garages have computer programs that give the information.

Besides there are no garages on race tracks. And as far as I know there is no other place to fill up in LFS than the pits.
So you are actually saying that the pit crew doesn't know how big the tank is. Yeah, right. I bet they just quess the amount in F1 too.

Quote from STROBE :(depending of course on how competitive the McLaren is)

Very.
Who had the fastest lap?
Kovalainen!

So it's Hamilton who isn't competitive not the car. Everybody has bad days, maybe this was his.

Quote from tristancliffe :Indeed you have seen plastic wings. And boots, and bonnets and door skins. Why? They are lighter. And they don't spark. Not that you'll ever see a closed wheel car sparking when it's the right way up. -1 for pointless additions.

Tristan is clearly talking about the bodywork.
Quote from TechAde :I didn't mention anything about it being bodywork, neither did the sentence of yours that I quoted.

You admit that your sentence as it stands was incorrect and I'll admit that I took the quote slightly out of context

You on the other hand are just splitting hairs and trying desperately to be funny. After failing that miserably, you try to make a WR in backpedaling.

I'm reading the Bible. And boy is it dull! The boat catalog in Iliad was nothing compared to this lenghty boredom.

Take the ten commandments part. It's like:
"Here areth teh commandments! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10."
And that's all.
Then it goes at lenght about what kind of materials and how the ark must be made and the hut where it's kept.
There is page after page about the bleeding hut! Compared to the one paragraph of the actual commandments.

If there is a god, he is bonkers.

Quote from frokki :I suspect that just a new GFX card won't make much difference, because your CPU is so ancient and would be the bottleneck anyway. Sensible options would be to upgrade the whole machine, or not to upgrade at all I'm afraid.

Then it's no new GFX card for me. No sense in getting an über AGP card if the next PC will have PCI-E.

Quote from Misko :Seems like TrackIR with 6 degrees of freedom might be perfect controller for bikes. You've probably seen it in action already: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJxbI3uAXG0

Now just imagine all these moves of your head are actually moving the weight and shape of simulated driver's body and it's done! Tuck in, straighten up, lean left/right, move forward/back, pitch, yaw...

That would work.

Go for bikes. Not that I will use 'em.

My e-penis is shrinking!

I get a max fps of 55-60 on a good day when there is noone else around.

At race start it falls to about 10-15.

Windows XP
Must be my geForce 6200.

Anyone know a good AGP graphics card?

But that's to be expected from an event that is free for all.

Still, had a few good fights.

Quote from JeffR :Radio control motorcyles don't use any "body" lean,

Yeah, right.

I quess this isn't an RC motorcycle.

From what I gather from that page the lean is the steering. The servo isn't even connected to the front fork.

Sorry, but what has rocket science to do with bikes? OK they are sometimes called crotch rockets and there are drag bikes that use jet engines. But I still don't see why you are including rocket science into this debate.

I believe LFS is a racing sim. So it's about racing. Racing is about going as fast as you can. To be fast as possible with a bike you need to steer with your body too.

This is no end of a debate. It's the start of one. Get your tittles right.

I don't much care for bikes, real or simulated. But the same principle aplies to them as cars.

It's not going to be a simulator unless you have the proper controls.

Real bikes need to be steered with your body. That is a fact.

If you get the soft to calculate everything why not just use one button. You press it once and the bike drives around the track. You press it again and it stops.
